A facsimile of the Special Demonstration Squad manual, released under a Freedom of Information request. The manual is/was used by UK police to create fake identities from dead children to infiltrate protest groups from across the political spectrum. Heavily redacted it's a depressing and absurd document. Proceeds go to the Police Spies Out of Lives legal fund, which supports women manipulated into relationships with undercover police as a result of SDS activity. #ACAB

Compzine of the first 3 issues of Tom's perzine from 2007ish. Handwritten with one of those Pilot V5's, I've always argued that Drink the Sunshine during it's heyday was the most english thing ever to be produced - so see if you agree. Five a side, teaching, the painfully quotidian, grandparents, HOUSEKEYS

A re-print of an article by Richard Lloyd Parry that originally appeared in the London Review of Books and is basically the best thing ever written. Charting the devastation left after the 2011 Tohoku tsunami, Lloyd Parry speaks with a priest who has dealt with hundreds of cases of spirit possession and ghosts in the aftermath. He speaks to people who have had spirits enter them or have had interactions with family and loved ones who died in the tsunami. You NEED to read this

A short story by Ursula K. Le Guin, prefiguring her amazing novel The Dispossessed. While The Dispossessed takes place a generation or so after Anarres becomes an anarchist """utopia""", this short prologue is written from the perspective of Odo, chief architect of the future-Odonian system of mutual aid and communal living, as she potters around doing day to day business as the news of imminent revolution filters in from other parts of the planet.

Bataille is the best. This is a short collection of thoughts on the sun as a gaping void, sustainer of life and bringer of death. Excess, waste and filth. The sea jerking itself off and the earth having a wank. It's obviously great.

Luther Blissett, the name free to be appropriated by any and everyone, and prevalent particularly in Italy in the late 90's, is still sporadically used today to add collective authorship to primarily activist communiques. This zine is a rip-off of a book chapter, charting the forerunners and subsequent birth of the Luther Blissett project til it's "official" dissolving at the end of the decade. From fake artists and media manipulation through bus-raves, mass arrests to bestselling novels, this is a good read. The same dude just had a book out called Improper Names which incorporates some of this stuff.

An important read confronting manipulation in interpersonal relationships and groups. We've all been in supposedly safe spaces or 'radical' groups where the power structures and manipulation become slightly more subtle but as a result more pernicious, this is how to spot it and how to deal with it.
